Essighaus in Heidelberg

Have ordered take away. Good portions, delicious food, fair prices. And you can bring your own containers. Also supports the restaurants and not just the usual places to go for take-away in Heidelberg :-) Update: Ordered for the 2nd time to take away and the rating has been absolutely confirmed. The schnitzel was really delicious, the portion was very large and at an absolutely fair price.

We like the simple but excellently cooked food and fast friendly service so much that we came back for the next two evenings. The cheese spätzle was the best I had tasted, the fish was prepared perfectly and the pork steaks with onions were tender and tasty. I would certainly go again and recommend it to others.

That is still down-to-earth gastronomy. One can only say "feed like with nuts". As always mandatory when we are in Heidelberg❣❣❣

The first impression was a bit subdued when I saw the aging interior. However, the food is soooo good that in retrospect I consider the facility to be pleasant. Just like the nice, in my opinion well-rehearsed and personable team, where you really feel like a well cared for guest. By the way, herbal quark never played a major role in my life until yesterday evening, let alone enjoyed eating it ... as I said until yesterday: so delicious !!! A wide variety of dishes were ordered and everyone in our group tasted it very well. We will be back definitely!

Place in classic German style, tables and benches. Cozy. Friendly staff. The dishes are tasty and the portions are generous. For a hot soup, a dish consisting of 2 slices of roast, spatzle and a separate salad plate you will spend € 16.80. Not bad! Recommended ??

Good home cooking, honest dishes with no frills. Service was very attentive and very friendly. Located in the city center and open until 11:30 p.m.

Great Restaurant for typical German food. The vinegar house has seating outside.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE !!! I don't understand where the good reviews are coming from. The food is a catastrophe! The breading of the schnitzel was pure mush. The friendly waitress tried hard to make it up to you and brought a new schnitzel. This was burned. Both schnitzel full of oil. Inedible !!! Also let this schnitzel go back. The boss said: "The schnitzel is perfect" And put the disgusting schnitzel on the bill. You get old salad and lukewarm fries served. NEVER AGAIN NOT RECOMMENDABLE !!!!

The ambience of the Essighaus very good as well as the service friendly and fast. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated. Since I like to eat liver and I was always satisfied, I was very disappointed and hope it will be as good as it was!

Regional cuisine at reasonable prices, tasty and plentiful. Have been going here for years. In summer I have a great beer garden

+++ The one waitress, who was responsible for the entire outdoor area, was very attentive despite full tables and had a good overview, was friendly and took good care of the hygiene measures. There is one point deduction for the forgotten fried eggs on the schnitzel, which was solved quickly and charmingly by the waitress. Second point deduction - the glass of the wine spritzer was not well rinsed out (= dark chunks stuck to the floor). However, I am sure that the waitress would have resolved this immediately if I had complained. In terms of price for two home-style dishes and 3 drinks, I think 40 € is good.

The service was friendly, the 'beer garden' in the inner courtyard was nice to sit in, the food not innovative but tasty. We expected 'good bourgeois' and got exactly that. Apparently there was something to complain about the food at two neighboring tables. I have to say that both of our dishes lived up to the expectations we had raised. I don't always feel like eating 'German cuisine', but when I do, I'm happy to come back here. P. S .: I particularly liked the fries.

Eating out in the old town of Heidelberg? Then in the vinegar house, inexpensive, fresh and quickly prepared and always friendly service. Where else can you get classic daily specials with soup? Pleasant beer garden!

Great service! The young lady kept coming back to our wishes with constructive suggestions and the result was excellent. The terrace is very pleasant and quiet. A plus point for the toilets too - large and clean.

We ate there 2 weeks ago based on the positive reviews and were bitterly disappointed. The beer garden looked great, the waitresses were very nice and committed despite the obvious stress, but the food was unfortunately a catastrophe. The Käsespätzle were just disgusting, tasteless and drowned in fat (I let the oil run out onto another plate for now), the meat from the Jägerschnitzel was tough as the sole of a shoe and the fries were incredibly salty. Even the side salad was not good, overall the food absolutely not worth the price. It rarely happens that we don't finish a meal, but we both felt so bad after dinner that we stopped our trip to Heidelberg early.

We chose the restaurant based on the good reviews and the typical regional food. We had seasoned meat once and jelly. Both dishes were fine, but nothing now that I would visit this place again. The beer garden was really nice to sit.

Lovely little spot off the Main Street to have stopped in for lunch. Nice and friendly staff. The place was quiet and comfortable. Ordered the German meatballs and the goulash. Both came with soup and a salad. Food was tasty and very large portions. Very reasonably priced too!

Good German kitchen with rich meals at a fair price

Awesome schnitzels and gulasch! We were on a budget and discovered this place and were so happy we did! Very reasonable price and well fed portions! I don’t think they will disappoint you!
